PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS
- Study of the hot/cold potable water production and distribution system
- Technical room inspection to identify the best treatment point, check for and locate softener, recirculation system, filters, and pumps.
- Calculation of the total system volume
- Evaluation of removal of terminal points in the system.
TREATMENT EXECUTION
1. «Preparation»
1. «Preparation»
- Turn off the boiler. Ensure the boiler has been off for at least 24 hours to avoid dosing the product into overly hot water.
- Isolate the hot water recirculation system: Close the filling valves to isolate the system and, if possible, drain the pipes to be treated.
- Remove all aerators from taps and water points subject to treatment.
- Disconnect all washing machines, dishwashers, hot and cold beverage dispensers, ice makers, and similar appliances from water inlets.
- Drain two-thirds of any storage tanks, if present.
2. «Preparation of the Rely+On™ Virkon™ Solution»
- “Dosing”: Prepare the Rely+On™ Virkon™ solution according to the manufacturer’s instructions. A typical effective concentration is 0.002 for disinfection.
- “Mixing”: Dissolve the powder in water using a suitable container to facilitate dosing into the storage tank or directly into pipes if no storage is present. If there is a storage tank, refill it fully after pouring in the Rely+On™ Virkon™ solution.
3. «Application of the Solution»
- “Filling the system”: Pour the Rely+On™ Virkon™ solution into the storage tank and open the outlets to the system’s pipes. Ensure the solution reaches all parts of the system, including tanks and pipes.
- “Recirculating the solution”: Activate the recirculation system (if present) to ensure the Rely+On™ Virkon™ solution circulates through all pipes and points of use.
4. «Opening the Taps»
- “Taps and showers”: Open all taps and showers to allow the Rely+On™ Virkon™ solution to pass through them. Close the taps when pink-colored water and/or foam is seen.
- “Points of use”: Ensure the solution reaches all points of use, including bathroom, kitchen, and common area taps, as well as laundry rooms and technical rooms if applicable.
5. «Contact Time»
- “Wait”: Leave the Rely+On™ Virkon™ solution circulating in the system for the contact time recommended by the manufacturer, ideally overnight.
6. «Rinsing»
- “Draining the system”: Drain the system of the Rely+On™ Virkon™ solution. The presence of pink water or foam indicates the presence of the product.
- “Rinse with clean water”: Refill the system with clean water and circulate it through all pipes and points of use to remove any Rely+On™ Virkon™ residues.
